BMP CMBU (Contract Management Business
Unit) is a stand-alone fabrication
shop specializing in heavy steel fabrications.
Housed in the shipyard’s old
Prep Shop building, the CMBU started
production in October of 2014 and
has already built an impressive reference
list of projects. Two of our larger
projects have been the design and
fabrication of sectional barges for
a mid-west customer and fabrication
of light poles for Met Life Stadium.
In addition to the sectional barges
and light poles the CMBU has fabricated
lifting devices and spreader beams
for a local company who specializes
in lifting and rigging equipment and
catenary light poles for SEPTA (PennDOT)
among a number of other fabrications
for local customers and our own internal
CMBU building measures 16,000 sq.
ft. divided into two main bays. Each
bay is equipped with multiple overhead
cranes. The CMBU received AISC certification
in March of 2015 and is registered
as a certified machine shop with PennDOT.
CMBU is manned by experienced, certified
welders, leadmen and supervisors.
On staff we have a Certified Welding
Inspector who is responsible for oversight
of all welding functions including
development of documentation, procedures
